What are the affects of alcoholism and diabetes? My Personal story of diabetes and the consequences of this deadly disease.
This story hits close to home as Diabetes is called the “silent killer.” I grew up with my father having type 2 diabetes and watched the struggles he had. I lost my father in 2014, unexpectedly, and want to raise awareness to this incidious disease. My father did struggle with obesity and I learned shortly after that it ran rapant on his fathers side of the family. Type 2 diabetes is the most common type of dibetes, making up more then 24 millions cases in the U.S., according to Health.com. They also state that about 20% of people over age 60 get it.
I watched this disease slowly deteriate my father and wreak havic on his health. He had to take insulin, medecine and watch his food intake. As you can imagine this was not easy for a man who had, what I call, an addiction to food. In summary I was blessed that he lived until 71 and that he did not suffer from alcoholism. However, the affects of alcholism for diabetics, will be further discussed in the article attached. Please be aware of the dangers of Alohol and Diabetes as you continue to read. Stay informed and know your disease or the disease could kill you. I am writing this blog in honor of my dad,as not a moment or day goes by where I don’t miss him. If I can spread awareness to the consequences of drinking and being diabetic and I’ve saved 1 person then I feel blessed.
